There seems to be a knocking noise coming from the rear passenger side. I suspect it to be my coilovers, but could be something else.

Any one have any ideas as to where i can look or who i can take the car to get checked out?

Take it to any suspension place and get it checked out and see what they recommend? Pedders?

Get under and have a look yourself first, might be your rear swaybar walking side to side, check to see if there is any fluid leaking out of the coilovers and check everything is still done up tight.

I think you should right up a technical article for that. The little mod you did to fix your swaybar moving side to side. Simple, easy and effective :)

Lol i was going to go pedders today. ill check out the place pat mentioned.

Ive been under the car looking. doesnt seem to have any fluids leaking. ive also checked the sway bars and they seem to be stiff (does not move).

the noise only comes on bumpy roads. If i go up or down a driveway/speed bump quick. you would hear a loud knock. if i was to drive fairly quick on the hume or parra rd. the knocking/rattling would be constant.

Thanks for help guys.

What springrates are you running?

This is your suspension travel on the BC's, unless you have some pretty stiff springs you may be just bottoming out, note also the bump stops on BC coilovers are hard as a rock.

Pete,
Just as a precaution have you checked the top nut on the top of the coilovers.
There known to come loose and the shock bounces up and down and makes a clunking noise when driving on a bumpy road.
There a dog to get to but its worth a look before you take the car to a mechanic.

If you're on the north shore then drop in Arcus Automotive in Artarmon, they do my suspension installs. Speak to the owner Scott (rex driver), I'm sure he'll have a quick look for you and point you in the right direction.

No problem, springrates may be written on the springs either in kg/mm or lbs/inch. Something less than 5000kg/mm may be too soft. If the noise is new though and wasn't there before then it will be something else.

Inner West! I'm in the inner West (Rozelle) and it's only 10m drive to Arcus at Artarmon.

If your're totaly stuck I may have some time on Sat morning. I you want to cruze by we can go for a ride over some bumps and I could give you an opinion. Time permiting we can do a quick check to see if any bolts have come loose. It takes about 5-10 mins to remove the back seats to check your rear bolts. However, I would suspect, like many coilover set ups, once things settle and sart to wear a bit you will get noise. To a degree it's the nature of coilovers.

The BC's do have limited travel before you run out of shock stroke / travel. This will cause you to bottomout on bigger bumps and this bottoming out can create more wear on the components and also cause bits to come loose.

If you have aftermarket sway bars re-grease the bushings!! Should be done every 3-6 months depending on how much you drive it.
Fixed my problem anyway :)

Bankstown to rozelle is like 25 minutes up liverpool road?? that's not far...i spend longer than that sitting on the can at work sometimes ;)

maybe i'm just used to driving everywhere?? i'm normally looking for excuses to go for a cruise!!

I was going to suggest dropping into Leading Edge on Crystal St in Leichhardt but that's probably further than you wanted to go as well. Did you buy the coilover locally or did you get them online/ebay? if you got them locally i'd take em back to where you got them to take a look

ps: i think you'll find Bankstown is south western sydney not inner west :)

Some of the Early BC coilovers had an issue with this infamous knocking, The later model (BR, BE ect) was updated and seems to have stopped the issue.

What model are yours? Are they gold? or red and Black?
