In the process of buying a new turbo from the states but it seems I'm getting screwed over, what to do??
Been quoted AU$1246.00 (US$1352.00)delivered to Aus, I transferred the $1246.00 in Australian dollars and now this guy is telling me I short paid him as the money came through in US dollars $1244 a little lower than what I transferred in Oz Dollars, I paid the transfer fee from my account so no reason why it was short, $1246.00 in Oz dollars at 1.07US you would think that he would have his US$1352.00, anyhow he is not sending me the turbo until I pay the extra $100 or so, I checked with my bank and definitely cleared from my bank in Oz Dollars......frig what to do now??....fu(ken yanks!!

You will find that although the exchange rate may be $1.07 at the moment, you will get less due to fees etc..
The bank would probably only exchange it for close to 1:1, thus the $100 you now own him is legit

Maybe you could ask him to show you on his statement to prove he's legit. The exchange rate you see on the tele isn't always what the bank will give you when doing a transfer so he's probably telling the truth. I'd just pay it.

We do a lot of international transfers at work and there is sometimes in the states a fee for their own bank to process the funds once they arrive.

What turbo, precision ?

I doubt someone would kick up such a stink over $100, he is probably sitting there with a bucket of KFC wondering why crocodile dundee pay the balance!

Same deal when i do banking to Japan. you pay what the bank exchange rate is(normally 3 cents lower than the normal stock exchange is) + banking fee's on there side for international transfer + bank transfer here in Aus(range from $5-30 in AUD)

Best thing to do is to say i want to put into there bank $1352 in USD inc all fee's in AUD, it may come out to $50 AUD in fee's but then its covered. lets face it your saved about $500+ buying the turbo in the first place direct from the US and who care's about $50 in the long run.

Chin up bro.

Kris

Kris if you need some one to reco turbos, Leemo and I have the perfect dude, my mechanic was so impressed on how he fixed my GTk that he is using them now, price was more than half of what GCG charges.

Mate I paid $420 for all new seals, rear blades and bearings, fully balanced with zero play in the shaft GCG wanted $1250.00

I have a 12 month warantee mate, didnt ask about the oil drain fitting as I have just made a custom one up, so no dramas there, inertesting Pulse used a water hose as an oil drail line for my last turbo, kinda explains things

Some of the precision turbo's now are just oil cooled Dave, I think you have to order them as watercooled cores? not sure just a heads up.
