Probably another noobish thing to ask, but i couldnt find the exact answer to my question

I?ve recently been thinking about upgrading the turbo in my 2003 MY03 STi but im not sure what to get for the results im after!

Current setup in the 2003 MY03 Sti is as follows.
VF36P20
Hyperflow Top Mount with MSR Mod
X3E Motorsport 1PC Silicon Intake
CES Front Connecting Pipe
Tomei Type-S Fuel Reg
Walbro Fuel Pump
PSR 3inch Turbo Back into 2.5inch Diff Back Exhaust
Mac 3port Boost Solenoid
Perrin Air Panel
STi Pink Lowered Springs
turbosmart dual port BOV
205kwatw

The car wont be used on a track, so im after a turbo to make it a "fun" street car, decently quick spool so its zippy, but still has a decent top end output.
At present the VF36P20 is coming on around 4500rpm which to me seems quite laggy.
I wouldn?t mind pushing the car from 205kwatw to 240-255kwatw if possible! It isnt neccessary but would be nice, rather the "zippiness"!

Since i already have a VF36 a mate has suggested to get a P18 for quicker spool, but will i lose too much top end by doing this?

I also started looking into the BBK TD05 range and was stuck between either a 20g or 18g housing.
i wasnt sure what the difference between the turbos (TD0518g vs vf36p18) and (td0520g vs vf36p20)...

My MAIN Question is:
What turbo would you go with and what housing would you use to get the results i am after?

Im also open to other suggestions, but needs to be bolt on for now

Cheers guys

I would be getting the bbk 20g.

with the billet wheel and all, apparently it would spool sooner then your current set-up (4.5k rpm).

i have an 18g non billet and quite disappointed. full boost around 4k rpm and netted 198kw atw.

if i was to do it all over again, ill definitely give the 20g a go.

How about the 20G ts? would you recommend that or just the single scroll?

The twin scroll is arguably better but there is a much higher set up costs, as a bunch of stuff has to be changed. You will also loose the boxer rumble.

The VF36 TS is better under 3200-3400, then they are the same to a vf34, but a VF34 with kando headers will be better from 3500 and up by 10kw.

The BBK 16g is better all over than the 36, and around 10-20kw better above 3000, the 18g moves up 300rpm and adds 10-20kw, and 20g bbk is 300 up again and adds 10-20kw more.

The TDO5 no billet is crap, vf34 is better than 20g cast.

Guys, is the compressor side of the VF34 (and i guess 36) roughly the same size as the TD05?

If so, BBK TD05-16G sounds like it could be quite a good, low RPM spooling turbo.

IT's more to do with ex ratio , inlet ratio, trim, wheel weight, so much more to it.

And i wouldnt bother with a 20G Twin Scroll anymore. the rear housing cant flow more then around the 230kw mark and the single scrolls are not that much different when it comes to spool up

BBK 20G will spool up well under 4000rpm
