Hey Guys

Wanting to upgrade my suspension as my rear struts have had it, and my front one i believe are on there last legs due to the lowered springs. I still have the standard struts in the car.

Would something like this....

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... K:MEWAX:IT

.... go well with a set of tein s techs? The s-techs are 35mm lower on the front & 25mm on the rear.

Is KYB a decent brand?

Cheers,
Paul

Pablo thanks for the link they seem pretty good. I notice that for 04+ you need to get some scooby 921 spacers as well for the rear of these. Did they come with strut tops? How many k's have you put on them? and is there any knocks coming out of them? My stock struts have passed there use by date and considering i got no licence till march i may aswell fix up a few little things that need doing.

On the other hand has anyone got any other recommendations? Doesnt have to be adjustable as i just want new suspension set up, something like shocks that will suit lowered springs etc. Im not really going to be doing any adjustments.

Yep you need the scooby spaces there cheap anyway.
Dont come with strut tops, either use your original ones or any after market ones, i use Whiteline Com C strut mounts up the front on my car.
Ive probably done about 15-20,000 km on mine, no noises or issues at all.

Sorry no pics Prezza, plenty on NASIOC and IWSTI forums if you search

ive been looking at these aswell. for 1.4k you get the struts and springs and then need to add abit more to get the strut tops (how much would one be looking at for front n rear tops? Do they usually sell tops as a set of 4 or 2? or 1? lol).

im currently running bc coilovers, so would i be able to use these tops for the Tokico struts?

also i wanted to compare the worth between the RCE springs with TOKICO struts (total without tops 1.4k) and a set of USED TEIN SS Aus spec with EDFC (<25000km, complete package around 1.3k)

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Pete

Why dont u just keep your bc coilovers? esp after upgrading your sway bars and links.. any reason you want to change them?

I think my strut inserts are on their way out. ive looked at replacing them but it's $165 a corner. so $660 all up for new inserts.

i was thinking that it might be better just replacing the inserts for piece of mind because they're new and have warrenty compared to used coilovers and not knowing when an issue would pop up costing more money in the end.

Buying second coilovers can be risky though.

The tokico D Specs and the RCE yellows are a great combo for the street, and think will out perform coilovers on a road like we went through on Sunday due to having more travel and movement. Where as the coilovers kinda bottom out or you get lift off oversteer and so forth.

speak to Dav0, he just got a set from Troy and has fitted them

Yeah, ive decided not to get 2nd hand coilovers. too risky to buy used. They might last 20k km or <1k.

i might just buy a set of new strut inserts for $660 instead of paying 2k for a whole new spring + strut + top package.

$$$$$$$$ is hard to come by nowadays for me lol might wait till im rich and then get a proper set of springs etc...

the road that we took on the way back the other day, i could feel that i needed better/more handling/suspension gear. I could feel that the car could go slightly more, but i was driving almost at my skill limit lol it was getting hard at one stage to keep up with Kurt who most likely wasnt pushing that hard :P

The Tokico package comes with the Scoobi Spacers.

master.p if the shocks are on the way out of the BC use the tops from them for the Tokico

I think 1 is already gone but i think another is on its way out.

i was originally thinking just replace the strut insert for just ones that require it for now. money wise it wouldnt cost too much and lets me address other things first and then upgrade the suspension. I really want TEINS but also want to try non coilovers like TOKICO

I reckon leave it as is, or get yours fixed and invest the money into some good tyres if you dont already have some...
