Saw a post stating that an MSR tune would add a couple of grand to a sale. Got me thinking...

Who really is the best? Money aside who has the best reputation & results?

Feel free to post up your experiences with any tuner in particular...they say any publicity is good publicity so lets hear who tuned your car and how was your experience? Would you go back?

Will post up any Tuners mentioned & in what State they are located:

These are not in any particular order...

NSW
MSR
Autotech
Pulse
SAS
SMW (Vendor)
Tunehouse
Powertune Australia
Rigoli

ACT
Ultimate Tune

VIC

SA
S&J Automotive

Maybe I've taken it out of context, but the thread still applies :)

I went with MSR and couldnt be happier!
And i got everything done when he was road tuning!
As long as i have a Subaru, that man is the only person that will tinker with my car.

My Car was tuned at SAS.. The got me 188kw on their Dyno
164Kw at Port Hacking Mainline
182kw at Turbosx Mainline

Car feels better but their workshop is a piece of sh!t, no customer service, seemed like they did a rush job, No Dyno sheet (showing AFR or PSI), leaked fuel after silicone intake install, overpriced.
They also tuned it to 12.5:1(or so) AFRs which I've been told is a bit high
The told me it was running 17psi when it turns out it's 19...

Recommended: NO

When I get some spare cash I'll try to get in to MSR for a tune based solely on recommendations and reputation.

This will surely be an interesting read.

All i have to contribute is that you will hear good and bad stories from EVERY workshop.

Thats been the case with pretty much everyone i've ever talked to about engine/performance workshops. And this isnt from people who want stuff done on the cheap. I know a few people who do stuff with the 'money is no object' mentality and have spent enough for house deposits at 4-5 different workshops and still havent found a decent one.

My thoughts exactly. I've only ever had one experience. Went to Autotech for a power run & was informed my engine was pinging. It was retuned for an extra 15kws atw, but I picked up an extra 30-40 down low which was a bonus. Pretty pleased with the service; got a canon muffler fitted as well, & Spiro had no hesitations in changing it when he'd seen that the boys there had put it on straight instead of on an angle like I'd asked. Still cost me $660 for the tune, plus the $600 for the muffler...all for some extra noise and only 15kws! But still, a fairly decent experience :)

Got my car tuned at pulse, pretty good service but my car still hast finished its final tune.
was told only a couple of hundred bucks to make sure its all running good after adding a few mods

i wanted low end torque and drivability but my car was a lag mosnter initially.

watch this space for my final verdict on pulse

Autotech all they way!!

There track records speak for them selves, and the amount of fuck ups that come in from other tunes that he fixes (including msr) is quite amazing

My only experience is with a retune, however the previous owner of my current car said spiro blew the engine up doing a power run :S I'm torn as to what workshop to use for the future now...

Ive heard of autotech blowing a few cars. and the reason why they say they only do ecutek is coz its the most profitable to them.
tell them u have a haltech and its 660 to tune it. but he will tell u haltech is crap and stick to standard ecu coz then thats 1600
make sense??
its all business, u have money and every tuner will love you.

recently a mate had his car tuned at powertune australia and hes loving it.

Might wanna check how much of that goes elsewhere for licensing...

My car did go to autotech But I should have stuck to my original plan and went to MRT.

I prefer MRTs work. They do everything else on my car I don't know why I didn't get the tune done by them.

And before someone goes "MRT derp so exxey herp bad work herpderp" I don't care what you heard from a friend of a friend of your uncles cousins nephew OR from a forum where 90% of people have never had first hand experience.

there is no 'premium' that MRT charges. Their pricing is on par with the other workshops every one likes to use. I have just had my major service + TB, new pulleys & brakes all re-done there for one of the cheapest quotes I have gotten. And no they didn't call and say 'you need to replace half your car' like some people like to vomit out of their keyboard on to a forum.

I still expect someone to barf up some BS, though.

You hear a lot of crap, when you have first hand experience then come and give your opinion.
As for the Haltech comment, Spiro is one of the biggest Haltch retailers in Sydney and will only recommend a Motec over a Haltech if your mods, use of the car and budget are WORTH the extra expense.

Guys if you want to keep this topic healthy then give first hand experience only please, not what you heard form your mates brothers uncles best freind!

I love the work MRT does.. I find their services reasonably priced and they do a great job.
Customer service is excellent.. The Only problem I have is the price of the products ($800 for a diff back?) but having said that the products are great..
