The Tasmanian round of the V8 Supercars Championship proved to be an outstanding weekend for Castrolrunners – with Ford Performance Racing continuing it’s good form from the last round on the Gold Coast – delivering podium finishes on Sunday for both Will Davison and Mark Winterbottom.
The third FPR prepared Falcon of Paul Dumbrell came home in fourth spot – after dominating practice and qualifying on Pole for the Sunday race.

Todd Kelly had one of his best runs of the season for Jack Daniel’s Racing, positioning his #7 machine seventh placing in the race won by Championship leader, Jamie Whincup. His brother, Rick was the next of the Castrol runners home, just outside the top 10 in 12rh, whilst Greg Murphy made up from yesterday’s indiscretion (where the wheel came adrift from the Pepsi Max Crew machine) to finish 14th.

Tony D’Alberto had an action packed run in his #3 Wilson Security car in 16th and he was followed home by Russell Ingall.
Dave Reynolds brought the Stratco racer home in 22nd after a spin at the hairpin and Steve Owen was the final runner home in 23rd.

Yesterday, Winterbottom and Davison led the Castrol charge in fourth and fifth. A late race battle between the team-mates may have cost them a potential podium. Winterbottom led early, until an issue in his pitstop dropped him several positions.

Todd Kelly was 11th, with Paul Dumbrell crossing the line in 13th. Rick Kelly was uncharacteristically behind his brother all weekend in 14th. Tony D’Alberto was 15th. Steve Owen bested Russell Ingall once more in 17th position – however hadn’t shown the form he had been in of late.

Dave Reynolds was 22nd, whilst both Ingall and Murphy recorded DNFs, Murphy with the well publicised wheel coming adrift – which cost the Pepsi Max racer and the Kelly Racing team $5,000 after proceedings.

Championship wise, Winterbottom has moved into third in the Championship, whilst the TeamVodafone pair continue their march ahead at the point of the Championship. There is a very short turnaround for teams, with the next event being next weekend at Sandown.
