So today I go for a drive and the car starts blowing black smoke (alot) and idles like a dog, it sometimes even revs itself up to 1500rpm then back down and then revs itself again.
Only started this morning, The cruise on the weekend she performed solid, Im almost 95% sure its the Air Flow Meter (this is the 3rd one already!)

Anyone ever had this? Was the cause the Airflow Meter? And does anyone live near Jimboomba who owned a MY99/00 WRX and wouldnt mind swapping the Airflow Meter to diagnose the problem? Cheers.

Also while on the subject anyone know where to get cheap AFM's from? This shit is costing me a fortune! Last one I bought cost $240 ish dollars, Got the receipt somewhere...

What if it's your cables around the AFM plug that are faulty and not making good connections and when you replace it works better for a while?...

My car did the same thing when the O2 sensor went. Sounded wicked on idle. Sounded like a WRX with very lumpy cams after giving it the beans :lol:

Vacuum leak.. My 99 Foz used to do that if you pulled the vacuum line off the bov.. Just a thought anyways )

Invest in a ecudatascan unit, mine afm died and i picked it up way before it started to make my engine go bad
