Was playing around with a throttle position tool today, which when you depress the accelerator, it shows how far (in therms of %) the throttle body is opening.

With no floormat, and foot pressed flat to the floor, i was reading 92%. Now, as my car is a cable throttle, this would be due to slack in the cable.

Now the interesting part..

With the standard sti floor mat reinstalled, and in its correct place, the throttle was only able to open 76%.
That is, the thickness of the floormat meant the pedal could not go all the way down, resulting in a 16% reduction in throttle opening.

This is a pretty boring discovery, but it makes you wonder! If a car was dyno'd and produced xxx-kw/atw, that may have only been with the throttle around 76%.

Try removing your drivers floor mat, and go for a WOT run. Id be curious to know if there is any noticeable difference in top end power.

I was using the 'ECU Data Scan' tool i borrowed from Pete-ej20. One of the many function is throttle position.

You can also adjust the throttle pedal stopper as it screws up and down. Or just remove it all together.

Hehe, i was in no way implying my tune with you! I just found it interesting that the floor mat restricts the throttles movement soo much.
