Hey everyone,
I have been searching and searching for a compatible device to scan engine codes from the OBD II port. I have now stumbled across this fella

ECU Datascan
http://www.ecudatascan.com.au/home.html

It has got more than what I am after but I could use it all in the long run and looks like good value for money.
does anyone know if this will work on a 1999 WRX, or even better does anyone own one on here?

let me know :D

-cheers

Yeah it does look good but check with them if it's compatible.

http://www.ecudatascan.com.au/faq.html
Will it work on my car?
We try to ensure that the ECUDatascan works on as many cars as possible. Even though there are now standards out there to ensure compatability, some cars are still troublesome. Contact us if you would like to ask about your specific vehicle.

http://www.ecudatascan.com.au/contact-us.html

I've read that on your model you can just plug some cables together and the engine light will blink the error codes...

There are cheaper options if you just need to scan codes.
I bought a scan tool used for $40
Does your car have ODBII?

they mentioned that all subarus in australia should have OBD II after 1998, if its an import should be from 1996.

I have one of these in my my99 (it is compatible with SSS2), they are a great unit and i would reccomend it to anyone, it will work on older wrx's that use the SS1 protocol as well.

i was one of the beta testers for the ecudatascan. and the latest software update for it has some great features

they used an OBDii port, but not an OBDii protocol, the my99/00 uses subaru select 2 protocol, and before that was subaru select 1
