Not sure if it's been mentioned but what about a DIY service? Oil & filter etc..the things you'd do on a 5000km service...

Who does a 5k service at home ? A car with 5k would be under warranty, and last time i did a 5k, the list was quite extensive. Didn't want to void warranty
A basic oil change does not need a DIY & if you cant figure it out on your own, you should stick to playing need for speed & googling polo shirts & have someone with common sense do it for you

Apart from that, great suggestion & keep em coming. Good post

I think he was referring to the standard DIY service you would do EVERY 5000km, not the cars first 5000k service.

Ie, oil change, oil filter, air filter, possibly gear oil too at some stage.

Awesome we got flamers already.. Not everyone knows everything about cars?? And he has shown interest in learning?
I'll do a write up covering front brakes (replacing disks, rotors and bleeding the lines) got to do that soon anyway .. Might cover all the other stuff mentioned early Jan when my car needs a service Nick :)

Yeh, iv done replacing the rotors and pads on my sti, and took a few photos with plans to do a DIY write up, but never got around to it. My MityVac arrived from the states, so may change the fluid next week.

Yeah thanks mate. Nice to see a few people with courtesy. Apparently common sense involves automatically knowing how to service a car yet not properly interpreting a forum post. Prezza was right, I was referring to the service you'd perform every 5000kms.

Appreciate all the help guys. Thanks too for your unhelpful comment USER #001.

I've taken photos for a DIY on short shifter & bushes but haven't made time to write it up yet .. lol
One day :)
I also replaced some hoses in the engine bay with some cheap blue silicone ones and have a warning to tell people about the brake master cylinder hoses ..
Will write it up later too but fyi cheap hoses or soft can collapse in vacuum and the brakes wont work straight away when braking after a quick acceleration ... scary shit!
