I believe they are white lights, which are painted with a green film.

To change the colour, you either have to sand off the green, and put a little coloured bulb cover over them, or get a soldering iron out, remove the old globes, and solder in new coloured ones.

IVE SEEN ON EBAY YOU CAN GET DIFFERENT LEDS TO GO IN THERE BUT I DONT WANT TO PULL THE DASH OUT TO FIND ITS THE ACTUAL DIAL THAT HAS THE GREEN TINT. MAYBE ITS WORTH A LOOK WHEN I DO THE HEAD UNIT?

I know in my Forester, they are globes with a green rubber sock on them, However there is also a perspex thing in it with a green film that you need to sand..

Depending on what colour you want to go, you may or may not need to sand it off. And I know a lot of people have had trouble getting the needles to glow properly.

On the a/c control panel, you must get the right length led to go in there otherwise it doesnt light up either. I havent been able to find any anywhere... Checked Jaycar, ebay, dicksmith, random internet sites.

It's pretty easy to pull the surrounding trims off. No need to wait until you do your head unit.

I'm pretty sure there is a green film on the back like Prezza said. Maybe try get a cheap cluster to experiment on with removing it.
