I know its not a REX but I thought id try my luck anyway

Got home tonight and noticed temp going up, lucky I was pulling into my driveway. Pulled into the garage and coolant was pissing out everwhere. Jacked the car up and tryed to see where it was cumming from but couldnt see shit because it was towards the rear of the engine.

Any Ideas?????? Will call MEEK tomory and try fit her in for friday just seeing if anyone has any ideas, to put my mind at ease.

Not having a good run at the moment as I have been driving the EVO to work as my work UTE is off the road , just fixed a major oil leak now the coil pack went on it...... now im fucken stranded :|

Get the 40-50 odd thousand you spent on your evo (assuming you have a later model evo). throw it into a SSS or better yet a N14 GTIR (also known as the mini Zilla) and watch it eat your evo, chew its life, spit it out and laugh :)

On the other hand, no idea what your problem is but hey, free bump :)

If it's coming from the rear of the engine check to see if it's running down there from somewhere up top, if its not it could possibly be a welsh plug behind the gearbox. I'm not 100% syre if the evo engine has a welsh plug behind the gearbox but most engines do. Ps when you sayrear of the engine do you mean rear as in rear of the engine bay or rear of the engine where the gearbox attaches?

I've seen the heater valves fail in older cars... these are usually in that area... but it could be anything...

In the skyline I had no end of cooling issues. Not familiar with the evo but I had, in no particular order

Hose near plenum
Welsh plug
Heater hose
Radiator
Waterpump
Little plastic joiner between two heater hoses
Little metal pipe of the block

All failed systematically within about 4 months of eachother, shows what happens when someone runs straight water and corrodes the shit out if everything.

Long story short get a radiator test kit. Basically a bike pump with a pressure gauge and various radiator caps. Can pressurize the entire cooling system and find leaks. Will piss water out but without the steam to obscure anything.

Prepare to spend slit of time with a mirror and torch trying to find it. I'm going with a hose or plastic connector leading to the heater core.

I ended up changing every hose in that car to ensure no more would blow. Very tedious and wish i just did it from the start. Smartest thing I ever did though was piss off the high pressure rad cap.

Thanks for the replies I apreciate it.

Car has just left by truck to dashsports and performance galston.

Scott at insight put me on to them as he couldnt fit me in on such short notice, he seems to think it should be a relitivly easy fix ...... fingers crossed.....

Grimo funny you mentioned the high pressure rad cap as I not long ago put an upgraded one on

Back of a 4g huh? I'd say heater hose has split, a Welsh plug unless its come off wouldnt leak that much. I would suggest getting uprated Silicon hose sets with Tbolt clamps to ensure this is never an issue again. I always use silicon on all my cars and have never had a problem with any type of leak. I also drop my coolant every 6 months and replace it. Corrosion = Bad.

Unfortunatly rubber is just not up to the task of underbonnet conditions. They may be fine for a 4 year old camry, but for any type of turbocharged or performance car, Silicon is ur only option. Heat and Hard driving conditions.

I cannot stress enough how much I truly love Tbolt Clamps. Please people, go buy a box of each size and use them on any fuel and water lines. 90% of the time a hose will break where the clamps have damaged the hose due to uneven clamping, and those stupid perferations in cheaper clamps.

Thats just my personal opinion tho :P (but srsly do it lol)

You can see which one is better for your state of mind while driving under serious conditions :P
