Hey Guys

Been a while since ive posted as ive been pretty busy at work last few months.
Well im starting to get sick of my car and looking for a change (plus lost my licence for 6 months so that doesnt help either).

Been looking at a few evo 8 mr's on carsales the last few weeks and must admit they are really starting to catch my eye more and more, especially the white ones.

Now i dont really know much about these cars so im posting here hoping you guys might know a bit more about them.

Is there any common problems with them that i should look out for? i.e. gearbox strenght, bottom end, diffs etc?

The particular one im looking at has 46,000k's on it and seems to be in excellent condition judging by the pics. Only prob being that the car is in NSW, is there any problems i may experience if trying to reg in Vic?

Any input is appreciated :D

Cheers,
Paul

Ive never really looked into importing a car myself tbh.
I would rather just buy something "off the shelf" so to speak... even if it is a few thousand more than importing.

Im not really a risk taker, and dont have the time to deal with any problems that could go wrong. And if something could go wrong, with my luck it would haha

Importing one can have its risks...
and sometimes isnt alot cheaper than just buying one from a dealer with warranty..

I can see why Paul.
Going of those pics it actually looks mint for an import.
Its had atleast 6-8k spent on mods already.
Definately get the under carriage inspected as some imports are known to have minor rust under the car, nothing serious.
IS tune my car so it would be safe to say the engine is in good running order.
Providing those klm's are original and you could talk the seller down a few k then it wouldn't be a bad buy.
Definately worth a mechanical inspection.

Looks nice ... love the white evos.... Are you gonna chase more power with it?

The 6 speeds arnt as strong as the 5 speeds ,but still strong.

For that sort of money id chase a 9, nicer front end and a mivec engine.

Out of curiosiuty what is servicing like $$$ wise on one of these? Lets say a basic oil/filter change?

I'd be more than happy with 200atw and wouldnt really push for much more than that.
Im coming from a near standard rex so its a decent jump in power for me and should keep me happy for some time.

Really?! I thought that the 6speed would have been stronger :| 5 speed is the Australian version is that right?
TBH i actually prefer the 8 front end. Just something about the foglights on the 9 look a little strange to me, still nice but not as appealing as the 8 front end.

Thanks for the input guys :)

Yer not to bad, depends on where you take the car.
In Sydney an oil change with Royal Purple 10w40 $100.00 with geniune filter $15.00 plus labour = $270.00
Its the tranny and diff fluids that get a little expensive but overall the services are not that expensive.
I dont take the car to Mitsubishi either, l use another guy for fliuds and services.
Its easy in sydney as we have 2 work shops who know their stuff.
Meek and IS.
