Ladies and gentlemen...I have scanned through the topics here and can't see this as a subject but my apologies if I am gravedigging on an old thread...
I would like to bring to the table something that really bothers me in the automotive community at large.
What is going on with Holden Commodore owners replacing their badges with the Chev bowtie?
I have no bias against any car make but this really baffles me why these people are taking the "Aussie Icon" vehicle and slapping an American car marques badge on it.
Fair enough the LS series engine is the same as found in an assortment of Chevrolet vehicles but if that is all they share then why don't they put Buick badges on the late 90's models? Or Nissan badges on the VL/VN models? Or would that hit too close to home?
I saw a Holden Monaro with a signature on the bootlid of 'The Legend' Peter Brock and then right next to it this clown had fitted a Chevy badge!!! Brockie would be turning in his grave at this sacrilidge!
No other car owner does a badge swap like this? I have never seen a Ford with a Volvo badge...or a Nissan with a Renault emblem..or a Lambo with a Tata badge!

Does anyone share my feelings about this?
Is there anyone that can explain why the "Aussie Pride" flagship now has America's heatbeat branded on it's butt?

I think its because of the car being a holden.

What would you rather tell your mates "I drive a Holden!" or, "I drive a Chevy!"

Holdens are nothing special, so they put Chevy badges on it to make it cooler. Like an RX with a wrx bonnet scoop, or a wrx with sti badges. Street cred.

I snicker at holdens with the badge :P

Chev badges are nothing new, just a lot more common place these days with all the commie v8's coming with the LS* engines. Lot's of old school holdens that ran 350, 454 etc have chev badges on them and no one complained. I guess it's like the old STI badge on a WRX debate.

Haha i see the Chevy badges all over the place.. probs more often than not now, its crazy. Doesn't phase me anymore, its too common.

I dont see too many of the My Family things going around.. probs on 2 or 3 cars (4 now lol). The 30 second smile on the Fiances face when I bought the stickers, was well worth the potential laughs people may have about them ;) I think they're a great idea and wish I'd thought of it first. So much money in them. And my little character depicts me perfectly lol - in front of a BBQ with steak and beer.

Haha this has been going on since before most nexnutters were born lol.
Holden started out as a body builder and assembler for Chevrolet. It wasn't until the the FX that Holden put their own name or badge on anything. So no surprise the 2 manufacturers have been closely linked for 50+ years. Many models share design, parts, badges in some cases and some cars are barely rebadged. Monaro & Pontiac gto, ss
commodore & G8. The 69 GTO and 71 HQ monaro only differ
in nose cone. HT & Chev Nova etc etc lol. And more recently
the commodore is the new impala.
So if you have a mullet, missing teeth and end you
arguments with your wife with your fist go right ahead and mount the bowtie since all GM manufacturers are one and the same.
