My car will shortly need new brake pads and rotors as mine are starting to Vibrate. What brake pads do you use or reccommened? I currently have cross drilled and slottered rotors on the front, would i be better to buy new rotors or get mine machined?

Any advice would be great.

Cheers,
Robbie.

If your rotors have never been machined, you may as well machine them.

Not sure what pads to recommend, but im looking into Project Mu Type NS pads for my Brembos.

Where would be the best place to get the rotors machined? Preferably on the central coast.

Thanks.

Any tyre/brakes/suspension place should be able to do it.

They just stick em on the lathe and shave the top layer and lip off.

I just started using the QFM H-PX street pads in my car and they work very nice, only $158 delivered to my door for front and rear set. Apparently Queensland friction material make brake pads for some very well known brake companies, they are low dust and low rotor wear and good for up to 550*C

I got mine here http://www.gslrallysport.com/shop/index ... ex&cPath=9

I'm thinking of getting a set of the A1RM pads for track days too, just the fronts.

^^ Beat me to it

Give QFM a go guys.. they're really very good value. A lot of guys up here running these on track cars with great results. I just got a set of these to go on my car and Greg at GSL is great to deal with as well. Placed my order over the phone at 10 and I had the the courier guy knocking at my door at 1!

Cross drilled rotors on a wrx are a no no imo

I have wiper slotted DBA's .. they are too cheap these days to even bother with machining.
I use DS2500 pads.. havnt used anything better thus far.

The rotors were on my car when i bought it. I have seen some slotted DBA's at reasonable prices which is why i was considering getting them instead of machining the ones i already have.

I have these pads on the track car - they are a fucking awesome pad. Only problem is they squeal like a mother fucker when they are not up to temp (although they still have heaps of bite). Great street/track pad though and are rated to 750.

To the OP what are you intending on uing the car for? Street only or track work?

What do people think about the DBA 4000 series rotors? Are they a good choice?

DBA4000 are a good rotor BUT I've heard way too many sotries for my liking about them cracking under high temps. However it was all track related work that caused them to crack.

Personally I'd put the extra $50-100 more and go Brembo sport rotors than the 4000's

Those BestStop pads are just OEM standards. Ie, not really any better than stock pads.

Im looking at the ProjectMU NS Pads there. Seem to be a bit better in all departments.

I will be only using them for track days, swapping back to the H-PX for street, I swap wheels for track anyway so its no big deal to do the front brake pads too.

Also those Brembo sport rotors are no longer available in wrx size rotors, I was going to get them but ended up with DBA 5000 instead.
