What happens when the keycode is entered? Do the lights turn off?

If so, when you turn the key, does it make any noise? Does it try and tick over?

Did you leave the key in the ignition last night? (even if in the off position)

I bring the keys in with me of a night,

I can definately hear fuel pump noise, no crank which you can somewhat hear if the battery is dead

I will go try it again as I just read on a google search that the key barrel might be faulty and something to do with the imoboliser light still flashing etc

Keycode entered, engine light comes on(stays on)

I replaced the pulley slave closest to the battery one last week is the only thing I have done

also driving home last night(heaps of water on the road)

Do you have alot of keys on your keyring .. This can affect the Brant working properly too .. Also try turning the key on and off five times .. Then get out lock it and wait for over 40sec then get in and try to start it again ... Where are you located ?? If in Sydney I can come and have a look for you

I'm going to guess low voltage on the battery or bad solder on the ignition relay on the Brant box.

Yeah, brant system replaced 5months ago(as the original pin had 3 of the same numbers and the number wore off

Anyhows, I will give it a charge and see if it is voltage,

yeah car wouldn't even kick but yet I hear the fuel pump prime

not located in Sydney sorry(toowoomba Qld)

1) tiny key for the siren, and a little keyring, apart from that

Do you guys notice when you put your key in the barrel the led next to cruise lights up once???

mine used to do it from memory but isn't doing it now

When the battery is low you'll usually hear the relays clicking but the engine won't turn over/crank.. and the lights may dim when trying to crank.

If he had the keypad replaced they may have left the original Brant box there since they are separate items that connect using an RJ45 plug..

If the relay in the Brant box is failing then no voltage goes to the starter motor so there's also no cranking..
If it was the fuel pump/relay or fuel pump relay in the brant box he would at least hear the engine trying to start.

When I saw the low voltage symptoms the keypad lights would also go off so I'm leaning towards possibly brant ignition relay or even some relay in the engine bay somewhere that got wet..

Be careful when charging the battery and you would normally disconnect it to do that and you may need the master code..

I suggest connecting jumper leads and trying to start it... some people say its bad to do that but I've done it many times... that way you'll rule that out

Let us know how you go.

Starter motor? Mine I think has a slightly dodgy connection an every now and then I'll have to turn the key a bunch of times before it will actually turn on...

If its was the starter motor what am i looking for I checked all the connections are tight,

do I hit it with a rubber mallet?

and it may be the relay in the brandt box like you say, as i can hear the fuel prime, I definatly have 12volts + at the battery

not sure what I am looking for in the brandt box to find if thats the problem

I installed the brandt box(sparky by trade) but that was 5-7months ago now and this has been the 1st problem

I did mention it was raining last night(I know I didn't drive through huge amounts of water stayed up on the shoulder close to the line

Do you have a cold air intake? If not, the water shouldnt really be a problem.. unless you got a leak somewhere?

Also, under the steering wheel you'll find some thick cables which power the starter motor... these are controlled by one of the Brant relays... you could test for voltage on or off before and after you enter the code.

Also, don't disconnect the brant box unless you have the master code.
And I just remembered that when the voltage is low on the battery, the alarm goes into valet mode..

No he didnt have it replaced... He replaced it...
If that makes sense...
If he had Subaru replace it he would have grounds to have it repaired / replaced agagin for free...

I have the Brant Book and can scan it and email it to you if thats any help

It cant be the relay...because its the solder for the fuel pump that goes and makes the pump not work...

If he can hear the pump its not the relay...

Correct me if i am wrong but

The Brant box has 3 relays inside usually connected to the fuel pump, ignition and key sensor.
So it could be the solder for any relay.
If its the ignition relay solder then the starter motor won't run.

Ok Mobile mechanic is coming out tomorrow, I will show him all these posts

I will run a test on the starter motor cable before the pin code, and after pin code

I have the master key(when I sent it back to brant the 1st time they programmed a new master key)

brant asked me today to remove the battery terminals(alarms going)

then replace and test. Still no crank as this w iould of refreshed its memory according to brant

they did say because I could hear fuel pump priming noise Brant is doing what its supposed to do

Ruin ou

Yeah I guess it could be anything... but do test that voltage on those cables to rule that off at least..

Thats what i said...

you did say that the brant was replaced under warranty....take it back to whoever fixed it and get them to do it again..

Dont think a mobile mechanic will be able tpo fix it unless he is a Brant specialist

Ok mechanic just left

we worked out there wasn't any power going to the starter solonoid(the spade terminal on the Startor motor under the IC

we then used a piece of wire to get power from the battery to the spade terminal and then it kicked over

and threw a CEL(I am guessing because the solonoid wasn't plugged in I hope

Its at his workshop over night so I will report as soon as I hear

I might need instructions on how to reset the engine light under the steering wheel I hear something about a white plug and green plug but forgotton how to do it
